Q & A

Who are you?

I am a person who makes videos, music, art, books, and games. I am also pursuing a degree in computer science. My goal in life for a long time has been "To make something that makes someone excited about life". I think DEBTCORE is a step in the right direction. Honestly, my life is a total mess. YouTube is a great way to keep my mind off things.

Why DEBTCORE?

I wanted to help create DEBTCORE for a couple of reasons. For one, I want to try taking YouTube seriously again. And two, as I get older I realize that my time is really running short. The memories I'm making with my friends like Blaez, they will be lost forever if not archived. When I look back, some of my favorite memories was making dumb videos with my friends. So, DEBTCORE is also just an excuse to spend time with my friend and keep memories of this landmark part of our lives.

What motivates you?

Well, YouTube wise I'm motivated by time. As I said earlier, my time in this period is running thin. Because of how fleeitng this period is, I feel extra motivated to complete as many projects as possible. I encourage you to do the same.

Why did you start YouTube?

I started making videos back in the day because I had always wanted to make my own videos. I started my channel in 2016, but before then I was uploading clips from a mobile game and Xbox. In middle school I entered a phase of making videos, mostly because I had so much extra time on my hands. I got really into it and would upload twice a week or even daily. The videos weren't great, most of them weren't even edited, but I still had a lot of fun making them. After that life got harder, making videos became harder, and my expectations for what my videos should be was at an all-time high. I became burnt out and didn't consistently upload ever again. Years would pass, I experimented a lot, but never got back to my original glory. I don't think I'll ever upload that frequently again. Alas, with DEBTCORE, I have hope that I can once again pursue this hobby.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a YouTube channel?

There's a few things actually. 1. It's never too early. You should start to make videos as soon as you can. Keep them unlisted, show them to your friends, but most importantly build the skills required to be a YouTuber (commentating, being spontanious, pacing, editing, etc). Never wait to start making videos until you're "ready" because it takes thousands of hours of practice to get to a professional level. I'm not even close, and I've been doing it for six years! 2. Don't get into it for a career. Do YouTube because it's fun. Always hold the expectation that you will never get views, and most importantly, never make money. YouTube is a game of chance, and I argue not to play the game. Not everyone will be sucessful financially from it, and, you shouldn't be doing something like YouTube just for the money. It's like playing the lotery.

Dogs or Cats?

I'm alergic but cats are awesome

What is the deal with your obsession with seals?

Listen, I have absolutely no idea. It's just a core part of my personality. When my friend sent me the "he wasn't forced to eat cement when he was six" gif on discord I was instantly hooked. Also, the Niko fandom is one of my favorites, so much cool shit for no reason. I am obsessed with other things too, I'm just less vocal about them. Like I think trains are really cool! And trucks (I love Mudrunner/Snowrunner)!

What are your future plans?

Well, I plan on making a game at some point this year. I'm going to catalogue the whole process on YouTube, and it will be released for free. Otherwise, expect some more song releases and a bunch of art!

Is there any lore to your channel?

Yes, actually! There's three characters at the time of writing: Nova, Vex, and The Machine. Vex is the girl with the black hair, and Nova is, well, me. The story will be revealed over time once DEBTCORE progresses to a point where I can work on my own channel a bit again.
